About the Project

Collaborating with Under Armour, I have been leading cohorts (40 students at once) for the past year and a half. Our mission stands on one fact: there are currently no industry-standard methods for recycling spandex, the primary textile in sportswear. This means that items containing spandex must either be used or dumped. The issue is, Under Armour’s facilities hold millions of items which cannot be put on shelves; this may be due to scrapped prototypes, damage/stains, or simply because funding was cut short.

What's Our Progress?

Currently, we’re creating a system to take Under Armour’s items and refurbish them into usable products such as scrunchies, headbands, and balaclavas. Our focus is finding products and documenting which are easy to make, so we can develop a flexible system. Last semester, we pitched at Under Armour HQ to executives. This semester, we're developing a pitch to send off to C-suite.
